Bloggers go mushy; Republican buzz share goes mushy; Paul’s bloggers back to school
by WonkoKevin
Bloggers have turned Wonkosphere into a love fest as sentiments go positive, especially amongst conservative bloggers. Mitt Romney’s buzz was at the head of the pack in terms of positive tone, and posts about both John McCain and Mike Huckabee have also been very significantly positive over the past four days. On the Dem side, posts about Barack Obama’s have been super positive over the last three days.
In terms of Wonkosphere buzz share, Dems and Reps are going in the opposite direction. For Dems, not only is attention focusing on two people, but the bump Clinton got for NH appears to have disappeared. Obama was over 40% liberal buzz share for the eight day in a row, Clinton is now under 40% for two days in a row, and Edwards has been below 20% buzz for eight straight days. For Reps, McCain’s bump has also disappeared and the pack is as tight as ever. Here are yesterday’s conservative buzz share numbers; could it be any closer?
McCain 22%, Paul 20%, Huckabee 19%, Romney 18%, Thompson 13%
Finally, are all of Ron Paul’s fanbloggers college students? Paul’s conservative buzz share, which has averaged 20% since August and was as high as 30% in November, fell to the low teens through the end of December and up until two days ago. If the current level remains, the question becomes: Why did Paul’s buzz share go down so much from mid-December to early January? As a college professor myself, one answer jumps to mind–they were home on Winter break. Now back at school, Paul’s bloggers are ready to blow off studying and get back to the blogs!
