Romney’s Muslim buzz
by WonkoKevin
The big news in Wonkosphere this morning was the leap in buzz share that Mitt Romney got, jumping into second place over the last 24 hours. The buzz was in reaction to a Christian Science Monitor quote from Romney: “…based on the numbers of American Muslims [as a percentage] in our population, I cannot see that a cabinet position would be justified. But of course, I would imagine that Muslims could serve at lower levels of my administration.” As the graph below shows Romney’s buzz share amongst conservative bloggers (red) jumped to 25%, and amongst liberal bloggers (blue), to a whopping 35%.

The reaction has been strikingly partisan (surprise). The graph below shows the tone (amount of positive versus negative words) in Romney posts from conservatives (red) and liberals (blue), and we can see yesterday both spiking in their expected direction.
